With Covid19 menace remains unabated and situation is turning bleak, Tripura Government is contemplating to chalk out alternative plan for holding upcoming Assembly session. Based on the tradition of last few years, Assembly session is scheduled to be held on September.
In view of the emerging pandemic situation, the upcoming Session of Tripura Legislative Assembly is likely to be held in an open space in Agartala. Law and Parliamentary Affairs cum Education minister Ratanlal Nath hinted this while visiting Heritage Park in the city on Saturday. A team of high officials along with Assembly Secretary already visited the same spot on Friday.
Notably, as schools remain shut due to Covid19, Tripura Government has recently started ‘Neighbourhood class’ system to hold classes in open spaces maintaining social distancing. The moot question hers is as to whether Assembly session can also be held in open space like Heritage Park.
Interacting with media during his heritage Park inspection, Nath said, “We have noticed that a few states are proceeding with the same plan- conduct of Assembly Session under the open sky. Considering the present situation, we are also contemplating a plan in the same way but nothing is final yet,”
The Law minister paid visit to Heritage Park to review the available facilities for holding the Assembly Session. However, conducting Assembly session in Park is not an easy task as it will require to ensure availability related infrastructure and facilities to run full-fledged Office works.
During his Heritage Park visit, Education Minister also interacted with students and teachers attending Neighbourhood Classes held in the park.
In the meantime, The Education minister has chaired a review meeting of the State Level Selection Committee constituted for recommending the names of school and college teachers to be felicitated on the occasion of 59th Teachers Day 2020, at Shiksha Bhawan in Agartala.
