Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb chaired a meeting of the Infrastructure Investment and Fund Board at civil secretariat in Agartala on Monday. During the meeting, the Board approved 20 new projects at an expenditure of Rs. 85 crore for development in various sectors. The new projects are expected to benefit different section of people including farming communities.
The Chief Minister stressed on taking proper planning for infrastructural development and also passed necessary instruction to officials concerned to work with special focus on healthcare, drinking water, power, agriculture and connectivity. Among others vice chairman of the Board and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma was also present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister also asked to identify and implement the projects which would benefit the people. In an important note, the Chief Minister asked the PWD to renovate the buildings of various departments constructed by the concerned department. He also emphasized on beautification of different bridges across the state and also to increase the navigability of the river Howrah.
Taking part in the discussion, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar said the Infrastructure Investment and Fund Board already completed many of the half-done projects of the previous government. All such projects are expected to be finished by the current year, he said. In the meantime, 14 new among 125 projects have been completed so far. The newly-approved projects included upgradation of supply chain management of fertilizers and seeds, setting up of Driving Training and Research Centre near NIT Agartala campus, improvement of drainage system and public water works under MEP programme as per tripartite agreement between EESL, DWS and state government, construction of internal CC road in Capital Complex, renovation of VIP road from Lichubagan to MBB Airport.
Meanwhile, the Infrastructure Investment and Fund Board members have stressed on constructing a ring road connecting various parts of the state.
