A group of unidentified miscreants set CPIM Dukli divisional office under West Tripura District set on fire on early hours of Friday. Left Party sources alleged this act seems to be a continuation of the sporadic violence erupted all across the state on Thursday last centering the Trade Unions called strike.

According to secretary CPIM Dukli division Narayan Dey , the miscreants stormed inside the office building at around 2 am in the morning. After getting inside the Party Office successfully, the hooligans ransacked the entire interior of the office. Wooden furniture and plastic chairs that were used for keeping party’s valuable documents and holding meetings were vandalized.

“Later, they blasted an LPG cylinder inside the building leaving all the valuable items inside the office building burnt”, Dey said.

He accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for this late night attack on the party office and claimed that this was not the first time when the Dukli office was attacked.

“Since March 2018, more than a dozen times the party office was attacked or ransacked by the BJP in regular intervals”, Dey claimed while addressing the media at CPIM District Committee office. Police were called on Friday and an FIR was lodged with the local police station.

CPIM West Tripura District Committee secretary Pabitra Kar, on the other hand, said, “The BJP has sensed their real status among the masses which was mirrored through the extensive support towards yesterday’s national strike called by Trade Unions. And, now they have resorted to violence and arsons to refrain people from joining the Left democratic movement.

However, such acts or any one cannot detach Left parties from the people, whatever may be the degree of violence.  “We shall continue working being rooted among the people. It may be noted that several Left Party offices were vandalized and ransacked during National strike on Thursday. In Agartala, CITU, CPI and Left Party offices were ransacked while CPM party office in Sabroom was set ablaze. Left Party leaders have strongly condemned the emerging trend.
