In consonance with the New Education Policy (NEP) and in a bid to improve the quality of education, the Tripura government has invited a total of 16 renowned NGOs, said ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday. He added, involvement of the NGOs will not cause any financial liability for the State.
He said, “Keeping parity with the NEP, as per the cabinet decision taken earlier pertaining to improving the quality of education, we have sent invitations to the NGOs”.
Addressing a press conference at the civil secretariat today, the Minister said, “After the cabinet decision relating to taking steps for improving the quality of state education, as many as 29 well-known NGOs of national and international levels had applied for this. A total of 16 NGOs among those were shortlisted by a panel”.
He said that the panel included – the Directors of Higher Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education departments as well as the Director of SCERT.
Chowdhury also revealed the name of the 16 NGOs. The list includes- Bangalore based Azim Premji University, CVM India, Vision Ampire, Teacher Foundation, American Indian Foundation of New Delhi, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Avan, Chesta Foundation Care, the Education Alliance, Lavya Foundation, Adhyan Foundation of Mumbai, Starlight Stack Foundation, Leadership for Equity of Pune, H at Action of Bhopal, Voice for Girls of Hyderabad and Tony Blair Institute of Great Britain.
These NGOs will help to harness the quality of education- related infrastructure as well as help the students. However, this will not put any financial burden on the State Government, Chowdhury added.
