Development of Animal Resource plays a key role in enhancing the rural economy, said minister Bhagaban Das on Saturday while inaugurating the 22nd World Veterinary Day programme here at Agartala Nazrul Kalakshetra. The programme was organised by the Tripura Veterinary Council.
Addressing the programme, the ARDD minister Bhagaban Das claimed that the veterinary infrastructure in the state has changed drastically in the last four years. He said, it is possible to increase income of 75% people by expanding the activities of the department with proper planning and mode and the production of milk, meat and eggs will also increase through this.
The Tripura Government under the guidance of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had mooted a new scheme called ‘Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana’ which aims to support self-reliant activities of the poor families in the rural areas of the state and also to enhance the rural economy of the state, he said.
He said, Mukhyamantri Unnat Godhan Prakalp was launched to make Tripura self-sufficient in milk production by ensuring that more cows are born through selective chromosome selection. The project has been 95% successful in the state, which has encouraged cattle rearing, he added.
“The government is working to set up 50 big and small veterinary hospitals and launch 12 mobile veterinary van in the state soon. Plans have been taken to set up a Veterinary UPHC in every village,” the minister said, adding that the present government is giving priority to distribute animals to beneficiaries based on cluster on pilot basis. This will not only encourage animal rearing but also increase state’s resources.
On the other hand, the Information & Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Choudhury emphasized upon modernizing and using scientific ways in terms of treatment of animals under the veterinary sector.
A blood donation camp was organised on the occasion of the 22nd World Veterinary Day on Saturday morning. The retired veterinary doctors were felicitated on the occasion.
ARDD Director Dilip Kumar Chakma, Convenor of the Organizing Committee Dr. Anadi Sankar Bhattacharya, President of Tripura Veterinary Council Dr. Chintu Debbarma and Registrar Dr. Sushanta Sukladas, Veterinary doctors, interns and veterinary college students took part in the programme.
