A day after The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the by-Poll schedule for the four Assembly Constituencies in Tripura, CPM and Congress leaders vocied their reactions and claimed their respective parties are fully prepared to put up a good show in the Assembly by-polls.
The main Opposition party in Tripura, CPM is ready to face the by-polls in four Assembly Constituencies scheduled to be held on June 23 next, claimed CPM State leader Narayan Kar.
Meantime, BJP turncoat Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders – Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Saha also claimed Congress is prepared to contest the by-polls on June 23.
The by-polls will be held in Agartala, Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar Assembly Constituencies. The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the by-Poll schedule on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media, CPM leader Kar said on Thursday, “We are ready to contest the by-elections with full might against the misrule of the BJP government. We shall soon declare our candidates after talks with our frontal organisations.”
“People of this state had experienced how the BJP had throttled their democratic voices and restricted them from casting their votes during the previous elections in Tripura. So, we demand restoration of democracy in this state and people are able to cast their democratic right to vote this time,” he told reporters.
Commenting on the upcoming by-polls, Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman hoped that the June 23 by-polls in four Assembly constituencies would be held in a free and fair manner. Roy Barman also said the Congress party is ready to fight the by-polls.
Taking a dig at the ruling government, Sudip Roy Barman referred to the ULB Polls in which ruling party allegedly resorted to rigging and cautioned, none will be spared this time if anything goes wrong.
In this connection, he said Congress demanded the deployment of the Central forces during the polls to prevent any untoward incidents. Roy Barman reiterated Congress party has full faith in the ECI and expects free and fair polls.
He continued and said, the people of the state are already fighting – they are fighting against the dictatorial regime that prevailed under the incumbent BJP regime.
Another Congress leader Asish Kumar Saha who quit BJP and joined Congress along with Roy Barman said, the government has failed miserably to meet the expectations of the people of the state who voted for the BJP in 2018. Saha said history will be created IN THE June 23 by-polls as people are looking for a way out of this dictatorial regime.
