Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Mobile Health Team of Gomati District Hospital has started its one-month Iodine Deficiency and Goitar screening program from November 1.
During the month long programme, the team comprising RBSK Medical Officers of Gomati District Hospital,Dr. Puja Debnath, Dr. Arunabha Debnath, Pharmacist Prasenjit Nama and Medical Officer of DEIC Gomati Dr. Dipanjana Rudra Pal will tour different areas under the district and conduct screening to ensure that children, especially belonging to poor families, are not suffering from any Iodine deficiency issues.
On the first day of the initiative, the RBSK Mobile Health Team of Gomati District Hospital conducted screening of the children of Alor Dishari Orphanage at Udaipur Amtali.
In the program, orphanage in-charges along with children were also enlightened on the physical and mental disorders that can occur due to iodine deficiency and how to get rid of it.
At the end of the program, RBSK Mobile Health Team distributed light snacks and several packets of iodized salt to the orphanage authorities.
The Rastriya Baal Swastha Karyakram (RBSK) under the NHM aims to identify and intervene early for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 D’s i.e. Defects at birth, Deficiency, Diseases, Developmental delays including disability.
And the RBSK Medical Team of the Gomati District Hospital is conducting programmes regularly among the children under the district including the remote hamlets.
Apart from screening the children for several diseases, under the RBSK Medical Team also makes arrangement so that the ailing child can avail treatment free of cost. With its objective and dedication of the RBSK medical team – the central scheme has proved its efficiency and already gained popularity among the people.
