Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura and former Chief of the State, Biplab Kumar Deb’s house at Jamjuri under Gomati district in Tripura was attacked allegedly by communist-backed miscreants on Tuesday (Jan 3).
Deb was not present there and was in Agartala at the time of the attack. Goons damaged a vehicle and two scooty bikes parked near Deb’s residence.
Annual rituals to commemorate death anniversary of the RS MP’s father, Hirudhan Deb is scheduled to be held tomorrow, on January 4.
On this occasion, preparations were in full swing and several family members and guests including saints of the State and other States were present in the house.
Meantime, a group of miscreants attacked and vandalised the vehicle and two wheelers.
Before the attack, CPIM MLA Ratan Bhowmik held an organisational meeting of the Party workers in the area.
The attack occurred after the meeting was over and party workers were returning.
Local people said all were well aware of the observance of death anniversary of Deb’s father slated to be held tomorrow.
The goons of the CPIM launched the attack in a well planned manner, locals alleged.
The attack sparked chaos and panic among the local people. The incident also created serious resentment among the people.
Police rushed to the spot, however, simmering tension nd resentment are palpable till the last information received.
Biplab Kumar Deb’s father late Hirudhan Deb, was one of the founding members of Jan Sangh in the State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself praised the contribution late Hirudhan Deb in expanding the organisation in Tripura.
