According to a report presented by Tapas Roy, Secretary of the Social Welfare and Social Education department, there are currently 9,911 Anganwadi centers in Tripura providing services to 3,17,327 children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years and 36,153 women across the State.
The review meeting was attended by Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy, Principal Secretary Puneet Agarwal, Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, director Smitha Mol, and other officials.
The Chief Minister’s call for improved conditions in Anganwadi centers underscores the State government’s commitment to providing quality care and education to children and nutrition to expecting as well as nursing mothers in Tripura.
This focus on assessing and improving the conditions of these centers is a positive step towards ensuring a healthy and nurturing environment for those who attend the centers.
Improving the quality of Anganwadi centers can have a significant impact on the overall health and development of children and mothers, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In case of Tripura, AWCs have a crucial role especially in rural and remote areas. It is imperative that the government continues to prioritize and invest in these centers to ensure that they are able to provide the best possible care and support to those who rely on these AWCs.
