With an eye on upcoming Lok Sabha 2024, BJP in Tripura is working to activate all the wings including the Minority Morcha to secure support of all sections of society.

All India General Secretary of BJP’s Minority Morcha  Dr Sufi MK Chisti arrived in Tripura on Monday (May 1) in a one day visit.

Dr Chisti, after reaching Agartala, held meetings with the Morcha leaders, ministers and staff of the concerned department.

He along with a delegation paid courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. He also met with BJP’s State president Rajib Bhattacharjee.

Later, speaking to the media he said, several properties of Waqf Board in Tripura were encroached in the past.

The previous Left Front Government failed to restore those properties but the incumbent government initiated steps for recovering the properties. He urged the State Government to expedite the process.

Dr Chisti was in all praises for the Dr Manik Saha led State and Modi led Central governments for working for the welfare of minority section.

He said BJP governments are working with the Mantra mentioned by the Prime Minister – Sab ka Saath, Sab ka biswas, Sab ka Vikas.

He referred to several Central Welfare Schemes introduced by the Modi Government including PMAY and came up with numbers justifying that minority community was immensely benefitted.

Dr Chisti praised the government as number of Minority people are getting opportunity to join in Government jobs at much higher percentage than previous government’s tenure. He hailed government’s cooperation with the State Haj Committee.

Talking about his meetings with the State Minority Morcha leaders including Chairman of the Waqf Board Shah Alam.

He said the purpose of his visit and meetings was to strengthening the Morcha organisation at the grassroot level.

Even as Muslim population is around 8.6 percent of the total population, BJP is trying hard to make inroads and win support of majority of the Muslim population. Based on the recent Assembly polls in Tripura, BJP candidates lost Muslim dominated Sonamura, Boxanagar and Kailashahar. The saffron party lost in these seats in 2018 Assembly polls also.

While State BJP is continuing with its, booth Swashaktikaran Abhiyan, it appears the party is also making strategies to win supports of communities where it has lesser presence.
