In a remarkable display of medical expertise, the medical team at Tripura Medical College and Hospital in Agartala has achieved a significant milestone by successfully performing two critical and rare surgical procedures on newborn infants.

These intricate surgeries, carried out on infants aged 6 days and 14 days respectively, have garnered attention for their precision and successful outcomes.

The hospital authorities have highlighted these exceptional operations, underscoring that the infants were admitted with exceptionally rare medical conditions that required immediate attention and specialized treatment.

The first infant, born to mother Arpita Saha on June 28, faced challenges due to lower birth weight. This led to the baby’s placement in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at IGM Hospital. Shortly after birth, the infant exhibited unusual and rare symptoms, prompting the baby a swift transfer to TMC Hospital on the sixth day of life. Responding promptly, the dedicated medical team performed a successful surgery which was delicate and complicated on the following day, ensuring the infant’s road to recovery.

Likewise, the second newborn, born to mother Remina Khatun on July 27 at Kathalia Hospital, encountered immediate health concerns. Doctors swiftly detected symptoms of a rare ailment, leading to the infant’s referral to GBP Hospital.

A mere five days old, medical specialists at GBP Hospital identified indications of an abdominal tumor. Subsequently, the newborn was transferred to TMC Hospital, where a skilled medical team carried out a successful surgery to address the condition when the infant reached 14 days of age.
