Tripura has ranked second in the country in MGNREGA in the current financial year. The state has completed an average of 51.37 days of work, ranking second among all States.

Indigenous people got over 59 percent of the generated man-days. Mizoram topped the table.

Agriculture Minister of Tripura revealed the information in a press conference held at the Secretariat Press Conference Hall in Agartala on Friday.  

He said that Mizoram is in the first place with 53.44 days of work. So far, 2 crore 94 lakh 16 thousand 312 days of work has been completed in the state. There are still 81 lakh man-days of work left.

The minister said that if these 81 lakh man-days of work are completed by January, more work will be available. 

Nath said that the tribal people have got the most work among the 51.37 days of work. In terms of percentage, it is 59.47%. In Dhalai district, tribal people have got an average of 71.41 days of work. Besides, 59.81 days were created in Gomati district, 67.08 days in Khowai district, 59.75 days in North Tripura district, 52.54 days in Sepahijala district, 48.08 days in South Tripura district, 64.08 days in Unakoti district and 43.87 days in West Tripura district were created.

He informed the media 5 lakh 22 thousand 533 assets were created in the state through MGNREGA from 2018-19 to 2023-24. This includes construction of roads, culverts, ponds, etc. 

The Minister said that in 2017-18, an average of 46 days of work was done in the state in MGNREGA and in 2023-24 it has so far been 51 days.

Detailing fund received, the minister also said that in 2017-18, the state received Rs 144 crore 91 lakh in the MGNREGA project and, in 2023-24, it went up to Rs 849 crore 45 lakh. 

He said that the daily wages in MGNREGA have also increased significantly. Currently, Rs 226 is paid per day.
