CPIM Politburo leader and former Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar launched a scathing attack on the ruling government, stating, “Tripura has reached a point where people are selling their children due to hunger. The recent Mungiakami incident where a father sold his new born baby, is a stark reflection of this reality.”
Sarkar further asserted that the BJP government in Tripura has completely failed to manage the state effectively during its 69-month tenure.
The veteran was speaking at a rally in Teliamura under Khowai District of Tripura on Saturday.
Addressing the public meeting, Sarkar painted a bleak picture of the country’s and state’s current circumstances.
He denounced the government’s ‘privatization’ initiatives, rising prices, and unemployment.
Sarkar pointed out that the government has not delivered on any of the commitments made in its Vision Document.
He remarked, “MGNREGA work is nearly at a standstill. Workers have not been paid for their four-month labor.”
He also alleged the state’s hospitals are experiencing a shortage of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. Sarkar lamented that poor people are unable to obtain essential medications at hospitals.
Sarkar accused the ministers of the BJP-led government of misleading the state’s populace by providing false information from their cozy offices. He trained the guns at the saffron party regarding ‘growing’ unemployment problem in the country as well as the State.
He did not spare the TIPRA Motha and alleged, “If the TIPRA Motha Party had not betrayed the state’s tribal people, the BJP would not have won the 2023 election.”
Continuing his tirade, Sarkar alleged the TIPRA Motha Party supremo misled the state’s unsuspecting tribal people with the promise of Greater Tipraland, enabling the BJP to seize power from behind.
Sarkar, however, sounded optimistic as he expressed confidence that the people of Tripura would not repeat past mistakes. He urged the state’s people to unite and vote for the alternative coalition to remove the BJP government in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Among others, CPIM Teliamura District Committee Secretary Hemanta Kumar Jamatia and former MLA Manindra Chandra Das also spoke at the event.
