The winter session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly commenced on Friday with the address of Governor of the State Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.
After the Governor’s speech, a two-minute silence was observed in the memories of passing away of two sitting MLAs – Samsul Haque of CPIM and Surajit Datta of BJP in recent times.
In his address, the Governor highlighted several reforms initiatives and welfare policies undertaken by the Government for the holistic development of the State and it’s people.
Listing out the administrative reforms initiated by the incumbent Government of Tripura, he has taken a series of initiatives aimed at fostering transparency, inclusiveness and sustainable development.
Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said, the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha established the General Administration (Good Governance) Department in August 2023 in line with the vision set forth in State Budget 2023-24.
“Under this department, a State Institution for Transformation, namely Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) was set up under the aegis of the State Support Mission (SSM) of the NITI Aayog”, he mentioned.
The Governor pointed out, the newly created TIFT will help in identifying the key growth drivers and enablers thereby leveraging them to boost the economic growth.
He said, “This shall strengthen the monitoring and evaluation ecosystem and data analytical system for evidence-based decision making”.
Besides, the Governor also highlighted the e-Office and e-Cabinet initiatives of the State Government as part of the good governance.
Detailing on Government’s plans and initiatives for augmentation of Agri-horti production in the State, he mentioned State Government’s plan to set up a Centre of Excellence on Citrus at Taidu Orchard under the Indo-Israel Ahri-work plan with an estimated cost of Rs 9.18 crores and another Centre of Excellence (Flower) at Lembucherra under Indo-Durch Project at a cost of Rs 11.11 crores.
The Governor also highlighted Government’s initiatives in ARDD, Fisheries and sericulture sectors for self sufficiency, education sector, nutrition of mothers and new born babies, hike in social pension, workers and labourers welfare, setting up of Tripura Transgender Welfare Board, Child and juvenile welfare initiatives.
He also pointed out Government’s plan for development of sports, medical education and overall healthcare sector, tourism, security.
The Governor asserted the current government is working for providing employment opportunities to the youths.
PMAY, DAY-NRLM, REGA, water conservation and skill development related initiative also mentioned in his speech.
He also pointed out measures taken for the development of the Janajati, cash crop growers, drinking water and electricity supply, road connectivity and other initiatives for the overall growth and progress of the State.
The Governor urged all to work together for the betterment of people and the State.
