Tripura athletes continued their dominance in track and field on the final day of the 44th Masters Athletics Championships held in Pune, Maharashtra.

On Saturday, the final day, Tripura won 11 medals, including 2 gold medals. In total, Tripura won 49 medals, including 11 gold medals, at the event.

Debashish Majumder won the first gold medal for Tripura on the day in javelin throw. The second and final gold medal of the day for Tripura was won by Sahanara Begum, a former track and field star, in the 400m hurdles.

Masters-Athletics-TripuraDulal Das won silver in the 3000m triple chase, Habib Miah in the 400m hurdles, and Mamata Nath in the women’s 400m hurdles. 

Shefali Bardhan won bronze in the 200m hurdles, Tapan Shil in the triple jump, Shibani Debnath in the 400m hurdles, Narayan Ghosh in the 200m, Mahabub Alam in the men’s 200m, and Snehashish Debnath, Sakim Hossain, Liton Deb, and Ripon Das in the 4x100m relay.

Athletes who won gold medals in this year’s event for Tripura are Sabita Das, Shefali Bardhan, Mitali Debnath (two), Rinku Sarkar, Mamata Nath, Habib Miah, Kajal Chandra Das, the women’s 55+ 4x400m relay team, Debashish Majumder, and Sahanara Begum.
