Bharatiya Janata Party nominated Maharani Kriti Singh from the East Lok Sabha Constituency.  Earlier, Biplab Kumar Dev was nominated from the West Parliamentary constituency. Maharani Kriti Singh, daughter of Kirit Bikram Manikya Bahadur belongs to Chhatisgarh Royal family.

BJP dropped both the sitting MPs – Pratima Bhoumik from the West and Rebati Tripura from the East LS seats.

Kriti Singh’s name was doing rounds for the last couple of days and finally, BJP top leaders announced her name as the BJP candidate from the East LS seat on Wednesday.     

Reacting to her nomination, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, in a social media post wrote, “Many good wishes and congratulations to Maharani Kriti Singh Debbarma, the Bharatiya Janata Party nominated candidate for the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat of the state.”

Dr Saha also said, “I strongly believe that the Bharatiya Janata Party led NDA Government will be formed again under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Jeer with the immense blessings of the people”.

State BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee congratulated Kriti Singh and exuded confidence that both BJP candidates from the West and East LS seats would win comfortably.

In an interview with a local electronic media, Bhattacharjee also pointed out that Kriti Singh's husband was a two-time MLA which indicates that she has political maturity. 

Meantime, TIPRA Motha Party, in a Facebook post wrote that Kriti Singh is the joint candidate of TIPRA Motha Party and BJP. Commenting on the post, Rajib Bhattacharjee categorically said, Kriti Singh is contesting under the BJP banner with the BJP's lotus symbol. He, however, said TIPRA Motha Party has joined the BJP-IPFT government and all will work together to achieve the 'Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura' goal.        

BJP candidate from the West and sitting RS MP Biplab Kumar Deb said, “Heartiest Congratulations to Maharani Kriti Singh Debbarma Ji for being Nominated as a Bhartiya Janta Party -Lok Sabha candidate from Tripura East. My wishes for your electoral victory in the upcoming Election”.
