Tripura Women Team defeats Maharastra by 10-0 in All India Police Football in Agartala

Tripura’s women’s football team delivered a stunning performance, routing Maharashtra 10-0 in a commanding display of skill. Despite this emphatic victory—their first in three matches—the team’s hopes of advancing to the main round of the 73rd BN Mallick Memorial All India Police Football Championship remain unfulfilled.

Goal difference continues to favor Tamil Nadu and Manipur, leaving Tripura’s progression uncertain. On Sunday, Tripura face a formidable Manipur side, which has clinched two wins in three matches and is firmly on course for the semifinals. The group league stage wraps up tomorrow, with the knockout phase scheduled to begin on March 3.

Hosted by Tripura Police, this prestigious championship has reached a thrilling juncture as it approaches the main round. The final day of the group stage matches on Sunday, will see nine men’s matches and two women’s matches, determining the last qualifiers.

In the men’s category, 12 state teams and units have already secured pre-quarterfinal berths, while three women’s teams have locked in semifinal spots, with the fourth to be decided tomorrow.

In the men’s division, the qualified teams are: Group A champions Kerala and runners-up SSB; Group B champions CRPF; Group C champions Assam Rifles and runners-up Manipur; Group D champions Punjab; Group E champions CISF and runners-up Assam; Group G champions Mizoram and runners-up Tamil Nadu; and from Group F, Rajasthan and ITBP.

All India Police Football Tripura women beat MaharastraIn the women’s division, Group A champions Assam Rifles have advanced to the semifinals, with runners-up Manipur well-positioned to follow. Group B’s Odisha and SSB have also confirmed their semifinal places.

The 6th day of the tournament on Saturday showcased decisive outcomes in the men’s category: SSB overwhelmed Gujarat 6-0, CRPF dispatched West Bengal 3-0, RPF blanked Uttarakhand 3-0, Manipur edged Maharashtra 3-1, Punjab dismantled Jharkhand 5-0, CISF topped Lakshadweep 3-1, Mizoram crushed Arunachal Pradesh 6-1, and Tamil Nadu narrowly defeated Uttar Pradesh 2-1.

Delhi and Assam played out a tense goalless draw, with Assam advancing to the main round on goal difference. In the women’s category, SSB asserted dominance with a 7-1 thrashing of CRPF.
