Justice T. Amarnath Goud, Tripura High Court judge, receives an Honorary Doctorate from MBB University. He is also a recipient Wonder Book of World Records 2025 honor for his exceptional judicial excellence, disposing of over 92,000 cases with unmatched efficiency.
Agartala (Tripura), May 29: Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) University has conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Justice T. Amarnath Goud for his “achievements in exemplary judicial service”.
Currently serving as a judge at the Tripura High Court, Justice Goud has also been honored with the Wonder Book of World Records 2025 for his remarkable dedication to judicial excellence.
Born on March 1, 1965, in Secunderabad, Telangana, to parents T. Savitri and T. Krishna, Justice Goud began his legal career after enrolling as an advocate with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh on February 22, 1995.
Justice Goud had School education in St. Patricks High School, Secunderabad, Intermediate in Wesley boys Junior College, Secunderabad, B.Sc., Degree from Arts and Science College, Secunderabad, (Osmania University, Hyderabad) and LL.B., from Shivaji Law College, Maratwada University, Maharastra.
He was appointed as a judge of the Telangana High Court in September 2017 and was subsequently transferred to the Tripura High Court in October 2021, where he continues to serve with distinction.
He was a Lion for the last 21 years in Lions Clubs International (Lions Club of Secunderabad Millennuium Disc 320C) and Trustee of Heart and Eye Foundation, Trustee of Lions Bhavan, Hyderabad.
Over the years, Justice Goud has delivered key verdicts in a wide array of legal domains, including constitutional law, civil disputes, criminal cases, service-related matters, taxation issues, and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases.
An official release stated that Justice Goud has been recognized in the Wonder Book of World Records 2025 for his “exceptional services in judicial excellence.” The document highlights his prolific work rate—having disposed of over 92,000 cases, with an average of 109 cases per day.
Notably, around 362 of these decisions are reported judgments, and 99.9% of his verdicts remain unchallenged, reflecting widespread approval and acceptance among litigants and legal practitioners.
During his tenure in Tripura, Justice Goud also served as the Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority and held the position of Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court for six months. His leadership played a key role in significantly reducing case pendency, with some days witnessing no cases listed for hearing—a rare occurrence in the Indian judiciary.
MBB University, while conferring the doctorate, noted: “This marks the first instance where a sitting judge has simultaneously received both the Wonder Book of Records honor and an honorary doctorate, acknowledging his unparalleled contributions to judicial service.”
Justice Goud’s commendable record continues to inspire legal professionals and underscores the importance of efficient, fair, and swift delivery of justice in the country.
