Agartala (Tripura), June 27: Tripura’s Food and Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, has expressed profound concern regarding recent events in Bangladesh, suggesting trajectory of the nation can not be termed conducive to the welfare of all its societal segments.
His remarks came during an interaction with a local TV channel in Agartala on Friday, coinciding with the Rath Yatra celebration organized by ISKCON Agartala.

Minister Chowdhury specifically condemned the attack on a Hindu temple on June 26, an incident that has already drawn strong condemnation from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and several other organisations including the Rights and Risks Analysis Group (RRAG).
“It is deeply ironic and unfortunate that neither the Hindu (Sanatani) community nor its institutions, such as temples, are safe in Bangladesh,” Chowdhury stated, reacting to the incident.
He further elaborated, “For nearly a year, fundamentalist forces in Bangladesh have been relentlessly targeting the Sanatani people, leaving them vulnerable and insecure.”
The Minister unequivocally denounced the assault and urgently called upon Bangladeshi authorities to ensure that such occurrences are prevented in the future and Santani people can live in peace.
He also highlighted that the Indian government, alongside other global powers, is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
“Bangladesh must refrain from actions that could, in the future, damage the goodwill and affection India holds for all segments of the Bangladeshi population.”

He appealed to Muhammad Yunus-led interim government of Bangladesh to promptly cease the violence directed at the Sanatani community.
In this connection, the Food Minister, in an oblique reference to devastating results of conflicts mentioned about Russia -Ukraine and Iran-Israel wars. He said, both Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire.
He emphasized that governments should prioritize development initiatives that benefit citizens irrespective of their religious, caste, or communal affiliations.
“I hope the government of Bangladesh will take meaningful steps in that direction,” he concluded, underscoring the historical context that “Bangladesh earned its place on the world map because of India’s support.”
