Agartala (Tripura) July 20: Pradeep Dutta Bhowmik, news editor of Dainik Sambad, has passed away. He was 72 years old. He breathed his last today at 3:45 PM while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi.
Dutta Bhowmik was suffering from lung related ailments and was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi.
His mortal remains will be brought to Agartala tomorrow. Dutta Bhowmik is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
The news of his death has cast a shadow of deep grief over various circles, including Dainik Sambad, Northeast Colors, and Imprint.
Media fraternity, entrepreneurs, academicians, professionals, political leaders including Tripura CM and even common people expressed deep shock at the demise of Pradeep Dutta Bhowmik.
He was a school teacher at a school in Sabroom in South Tripura. Later, his uncle late Bhupen Dutta Bhowmik – founding editor of the Dainik Sambad – brought him in media and journalism.
During his stint as the news editor of the Dainik Sambad, Dutta Bhowmik discharged his responsibilities with sincerity and dignity. He was the practical guru of many now reputed journalists.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha offered condolences and said, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Pradeep Dutta Bhowmik, senior journalist and news editor of Dainik Sambad”.
He had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi, for some time. I was in regular contact with him and his family. Today, at approximately 3:45 PM, despite all medical efforts, he passed away.

We are profoundly heartbroken by the news of his passing at this untimely moment. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and loved ones. I pray that God grants eternal peace to his soul”.
On Saturday, Tripura MP and ex-CM of the State Biplab Kumar Deb went at AIIMS to inquire about his health.
Social media was abuzz with heartfelt condolence messages. Many shared their memories of working under or with Dutta Bhowmik.
