The victim, Farhad Hossain, was the only child of Jalal Uddin, a resident of Ward No. 4 of Ashabari Village Panchayat in the Sepahijala District of Tripura. According to family members, Farhad went missing from his home around 9:30 AM. Alarmed by his absence, his parents launched a frantic search in the nearby area. Their worst fears came true when they suspected the child may have accidentally fallen into a pond adjacent to their house.

Farhad’s father, Jalal Uddin, got down in the pond to search for his son and tragically discovered the boy’s lifeless body submerged in the water. The child was immediately rushed to the Boxnagar Community Health Centre, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Farhad’s untimely death has left his parents inconsolable, and the entire village is reeling from the shock. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over Ashabari and nearby areas, with neighbors and well-wishers expressing their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.

Upon receiving information, police personnel from Kalamchoura Police Station reached the site and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination and was later handed over to the family. The final rites were performed at 4 PM the same day.

‘Back to Our Community’ call

Gandacherra, Aug 3: The Tripura Nathayogi Forum has decided to re-start the “Back to Our Community” campaign in the State.

The Forum convened an extended state committee meeting in Agartala on Sunday, marking a significant step in the organization’s efforts to strengthen community unity and organizational outreach.

The meeting was presided over by the Forum’s State president, Harihar Debnath, and saw active participation from representatives across subdivisions, districts, and the state committee.

In a post-meeting announcement, Harihar Debnath said that the Forum had unanimously resolved to organize its upcoming State Conference in Agartala. While the exact date will be declared soon, the groundwork has already begun. To ensure the success of this major event, members agreed to intensify statewide mobilization through increased publicity, localized meetings, and organizational campaigns.

A key highlight of the meeting was the decision to reintroduce the “Back to Our Community” initiative—a program aimed at reviving grassroots engagement and encouraging participation from every member of the Nathayogi community, especially the youth. Leaders emphasized the need to reconnect with the community’s cultural roots and collective identity.

The Forum also reaffirmed its plan to submit a memorandum of 19-point demands to the Chief Secretary of Tripura. This deputation, to be routed through the Panchayat Secretary, underscores long-standing concerns and aspirations of the Nathayogi community.

The leadership stressed that these demands represent critical issues affecting education, employment, social justice, and cultural recognition.

Calling for unity beyond political lines, Forum president urged all members of the Nathayogi community to come together in solidarity.

“The upcoming State Conference will not only be a gathering—it will stand as a powerful symbol of our community’s unity, pride, and collective voice,” he said.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment, as members pledged to work cohesively to uplift the socio-cultural and economic condition of the Nathayogi community across Tripura.

Vidya Bharati Cultural Centers

Kumarghat, Aug 3: In a significant step towards promoting cultural education and community engagement, Tripureshwari Cultural Centers were officially inaugurated today in three locations across Unakoti District—Anil Bagaan (Tea Garden area), Madhya Chandipur, and Akhtapara. These centers, under the banner of Vidya Bharati Education Society Tripura, aim to become vibrant spaces for cultural learning, particularly among students and young residents.

The inauguration ceremonies witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, especially school students and youth, reflecting a growing interest in cultural revival and education.

The events were graced by several dignitaries, including Sudeep Bhattacharya, state functionary of Vidya Bharati and a lecturer at DIET; Nilmani Chakraborty, coordinator of the centers; Chitra Pal, former principal of Ram Thakur College; and other community leaders and cultural activists.

Operating three days a week, the newly launched centers are envisioned as platforms for nurturing traditional values, heritage, and cultural literacy. Through workshops, storytelling sessions, traditional art forms, and local history classes, these centers will provide structured activities aimed at reinforcing a strong sense of identity and belonging among the youth.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sudeep Bhattacharya emphasized the importance of instilling cultural values from an early age. “These centers will serve not only as cultural hubs but as spaces where moral education and community spirit are cultivated,” he said.

The initiative was spearheaded and organized by Priyatosh Pal, the state-level coordinator for Tripureshwar Cultural Centers. His efforts have been widely appreciated by both community members and educational stakeholders for bringing structured cultural education to the grassroots.

Local residents expressed optimism about the impact of these centers. “This is a long-awaited opportunity for our children to connect with their roots. It will help shape their identity and understanding of our traditions,” said one parent from Madhya Chandipur.

With the inauguration of these centers, Vidya Bharati’s mission to integrate education with cultural and moral development has taken a concrete step forward in Unakoti District. The centers are expected to inspire similar initiatives in other districts, reinforcing cultural pride and awareness across the state.
