Agartala, Oct 15: In a landmark move aimed at strengthening healthcare in Tripura, the state government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The agreement seeks to upscale the state’s medical infrastructure and develop centres of excellence across hospitals and medical institutions.

The MoU was signed between the Health and Family Welfare Department of Tripura and AIIMS, New Delhi, in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha at Tripura Bhawan, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saha expressed pride in the collaboration, calling it a milestone in Tripura’s journey toward advanced healthcare and medical education.

Highlighting the government’s vision, Dr. Saha stated that the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital will be developed into a premier medical hub equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialized healthcare facilities, modeled on AIIMS, New Delhi.

Dr. Saha, who also serves as Tripura’s Health Minister, said AIIMS’ expertise in clinical care, research, and medical education will play a crucial role in modernizing the healthcare landscape of the state.
