Tripura Arbiter serves at Chess World Cup 2025 in Goa
Agartala, Nov 15: A well known name in Tripura’s Chess fraternity, Anupam Bhattacharjee has once again brought honour to the state.
He served as a tiebreak arbiter at the 2025 Knockout Chess World Cup in Goa.
Alongside overseeing tiebreak proceedings, he was also attached to the Fair Play Arbiter team and contributed to venue and hall management during the prestigious global tournament.
This year’s Chess World Cup in Goa added yet another milestone to Bhattacharjee’s growing and illustrious career as a professional chess arbiter.
Over the years, he has officiated at more than 100 international chess tournaments, which include 11 Grandmaster-level events as well as several major national championships.
His assignments have taken him to almost every state in the country, underlining his extensive experience and reputation in Indian chess circles.
Bhattacharjee has successfully cleared multiple certification examinations conducted by FIDE and the All India Chess Federation (AICF).
He is now qualified in operating digital chess boards and holds official credentials as a FIDE Fair Play Officer — a role that has gained increased importance amid global initiatives to strengthen fair play mechanisms in competitive chess.
According to Bhattacharjee, he is just three Grandmaster tournaments away from securing another significant badge as a Fair Play Arbiter, a recognition that would further elevate his professional standing.

He said the exposure and insights gained at the Goa World Cup will be instrumental in strengthening the chess ecosystem back home in Tripura, especially in grooming young talent and improving tournament standards.
He also expressed deep gratitude to internationally acclaimed Tripura chess player and FIDE Master Prasanjit Dutta, crediting him for motivating him to pursue a career in officiating.
Bhattacharjee thanked both the All India Chess Federation and the Tripura Chess Association for their constant support.
Anupam Bhattacharjee currently holds key responsibilities as a member of the AICF Arbiter Commission and serves as the convener of the Arbiter Commission of the Tripura Chess Association.
Chess enthusiasts of the State opined, Bhattacharjee is continuing to play an important role in shaping the administrative and technical framework of chess in the state.
