Unity March Padyatra in Tripura To Mark Sardar Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary
Agartala Nov 22: The Government of Tripura will on Sunday organise the Sardar@150 Unity March in Agartala to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, widely regarded as the architect of India’s political integration.
Notably, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, through MY Bharat, is organising this nationwide padyatra with an aim to deepen national pride, civic engagement, and youth participation across the country.
In Tripura, the padyatra, scheduled to begin at 7:00am from the Circuit House premises in Agartala on November 24. It is expected to draw participation from students, youth organisations, NCC cadets and local residents.
Officials say the event seeks to inspire younger generations to uphold values of national unity, self-reliance and patriotism, in keeping with the spirit of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha will attend as Chief Guest and is expected to address the gathering. He is likely to highlight Patel’s enduring influence on India’s unity and the continuing relevance of his vision in contemporary governance.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy, and West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil will be present as Guests of Honour.
Senior officials including Dr Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, and West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar will also attend.

The event is being organised under the supervision of L. Darlong, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, who has appealed to the public to take part and reinforce the message of unity and national commitment.
According to a PIB press release, the initiative began on 6 October 2025. It was launched by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment.
Smt Raksha Khadse, Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, was also present. The programme is a part of the Government of India’s two-year national celebrations from 2024 to 2026.
It aims to honour the great contributions and lasting legacy of the Iron Man of India.
