Agartala (Tripura) Jul 10: Agartala Government Dental College is on the path to becoming one of the premier educational institutions in Northeast India, with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha announcing that infrastructure projects worth around Rs 200 crore are currently underway.
The Chief Minister made the announcement during the governing body meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (Patient Welfare Committee) of Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital, held at the college’s conference hall.
He emphasized the state government’s vision to modernize the college’s academic infrastructure and transform it into a key contributor to Tripura’s emergence as an education hub in the region.
CM Saha stated that the government had successfully initiated academic activities at the college in a short span of time. The ongoing development includes construction of hostels and various other facilities critical to the institution’s growth.
He underscored the importance of meticulous planning in the construction of new academic blocks, maintaining cleanliness across the hospital premises, and ensuring close monitoring of infrastructure projects.
In addition to infrastructure, the Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of the Patient Welfare Committee. He directed officials to prioritize patient care at IGM Hospital, emphasizing the need to ensure safety and comfort for the patients’ families as well.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte provided a detailed briefing on initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the National Protection Mission, and ongoing welfare activities at IGM Hospital.
The meeting concluded with a cordial interaction between CM Saha and the faculty members of the dental college. He encouraged them to remain committed to academic excellence and contribute wholeheartedly to the college’s development.
Among those present at the meeting were Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Acting Director of the Health Department; Dr. Salu Roy, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College; Kishore Sarkar, Assistant Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation; Ajit Kumar Debbarma, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department; and several members of the Patient Welfare Committee.
