Three modern speed boats and a floating jetty have been introduced at Chabimura, which is considered to be the Amazon of Tripura, to ensure a comfy experience for tourists. Notably, Chabimura under Gomati district in Tripura is one of noted tourist spots for nature loving people.
In a simple ceremony, Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy has inaugurated the new speed boats and also taken a ride along with others on Monday.
Addressing the programme, the Tourism minister said, several new initiatives have been taken to attract the tourists with new facilities after formation of the new government.
“The government has already sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for renovation of Amarpur- Jatanbari road so that the tourists can have a smooth journey. Besides, the government is mulling for constructing an over bridge connecting two sides of the river Gomati at Chabimura – it will bring the tourists closer to the nature,” the Tourism minister told the Media.
He also said, “An initiative has been taken for connecting Sonamura with Chabimura through waterways to attract more tourists. Besides, the Tourism department is contemplating a plan to create a tourism circuit covering Udaipur’s Matabari, Amarpur’s Chabimura, and Dumboor Lake.”
According to the minister, sometimes the tourists visiting Chabimura had to face severe problems due to bad condition of the boats – once he also had a bitter experience after a boat got out of order in midway for hours. Now, the new boats would solve the issue to a great extent, he added.
In the inaugural function, the Tourism minister was accompanied by Secretary to Tourism department Kiran Gitte and Director Raval Hamendra Kumar among others. Meanwhile, the state government has decided to reopen all tourist spots of Tripura from October 1 next.
As the State Government is trying to make people self-reliant, tourism sector of the State offers the best opportunities. However, Covid19 issue has jeopardized everything. Tourism and hospitality sectors have suffered huge blows. “Surely, it is not an easy task to revive these sectors – however, as Government is trying hard, let’s hope for the best”, commented one boatman.
