May 08, 2018: The battle for power in poll-bound Karnataka is in its final phase with both the BJP and Congress leaving no stones unturned to woo the voters. Assembly elections will be held on Saturday and counting will take place on 15th of this month.
Addressing public meetings at Koppal and Vijayapura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, BJP believes in serving the country and society. He said, his government’s mantra is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’ but for the Congress party, only one family means everything.
The Prime Minister said, Congress did nothing to promote tourism and rich history of Karnataka while BJP manifesto lays importance on improving infrastructure in tourist places. He assured that Yeddyurappa Government will focus on food processing and horticulture, agriculture and irrigation.
Mr Modi said, Congress has done nothing for the protection of women, whereas his government has brought in a strict law against those accused of heinous crimes against minors and women.
He said, the toilet coverage before 2014 was just 40 percent but after Swach Bharat Abhiyan, it has gone up to 80 percent. On the plight of women suffering from cooking on firewood, the Prime Minister said, his Government has supplied LPG gas connections to four crore poor households.
Taking on the alleged corruption charges against the Siddaramaiah government, Mr Modi said, there is not even a single minister who is not facing accusations of financial irregularities. He alleged that the Congress government in the state is trying to divide the society and spread the poison of casteism.
The Prime Minister said, during his campaign over the last 7-8 days in different parts of the state, he gathered the impression that people of Karnataka have not only decided to remove the Congress from power, but they have also decided to punish them for their wrongdoings.
Taking a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Mr Modi said, even leaders in his party have begun to doubt his ability to steer the party to victory in Karnataka.
The Prime Minister assured that once BJP comes to power, farmers in the state will get insurance coverage among other benefits. (AIR News)
