Agartala, July 31: Town Club continued their campaign in the Shyamsundar Co Jewelers Chandra Memorial League Football with another hard-fought draw, this time against Lal Bahadur Byayamagar. In their second successive match, Sujit Ghosh’s squad earned a point, following their earlier draw with Forward Club. The tournament is being organized by the State Football Association.
Thursday’s fixture, held under the floodlights at Umakanta Mini Stadium, concluded in a goalless stalemate. Both sides failed to showcase dominant football, with neither managing to convert chances or break the deadlock. The result has added pressure on Lal Bahadur Byayamagar, especially after their opening game defeat.
Coached by Samarjit Debbarma, the Lal Bahadur squad entered the game seeking their first win but had to settle for a single point again. Players from both camps tried to dictate terms early on with a slightly aggressive style of play. However, the midfield remained loosely contested, with neither team managing to take control or launch effective attacking moves.
Tactical focus remained on sturdy defense and quick counter-attacks, but both backlines held firm. Despite their efforts, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the match ended in a deadlock. Referee Satyajit Debray officiated the game.
Key Encounters Lined Up for Friday in First Division League
Agartala gears up for two high-stakes encounters on Friday in the Chandra Memorial League Football Tournament. The day will witness Egiye Chalo Sangha facing Jewels Association at 4 PM, followed by a marquee clash between Forward Club and Nine Bullets Club at 6:30 PM — both matches scheduled at the Umakanta Mini Stadium.
Egiye Chalo Sangha enters the match as the stronger side. After sharing points with Kalyan Samiti in their opening game, they came back strong with a thrilling win over Blood Mouth Club, overturning an early deficit. Their spirited comeback has lifted team morale considerably.
Jewels Association, meanwhile, secured a straightforward win in their opener against the relatively weaker Friends Union. Although they face a more formidable opponent this time, coach Pranab Sarkar has assured that his side is fully prepared to challenge Egiye Chalo.

Egiye Chalo’s only concern is their goalkeeper, Amit Jamatia, who suffered a head injury in the previous match and is unlikely to feature again this season. Despite the setback, coach Sujit Halder remains optimistic and plans to field his best eleven. “We treat every team as tough. The boys are focused on earning full points,” he said.
Later in the evening, the much-anticipated clash between Forward Club and Nine Bullets Club will unfold. Forward Club, the recent Rakhal Shield champions, unexpectedly drew their first match against Town Club, while Nine Bullets registered a confident win over Lal Bahadur Byayamagar.
This game marks their second face-off this season. Forward Club triumphed in their last encounter, a knockout clash, but Nine Bullets are eager to settle the score. With pride and critical points on the line, both teams are expected to come out swinging. A slip-up here could dent Forward Club’s title aspirations, and their players are well aware of the stakes.
