April 20, 2018: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has lashed out at Congress and other political parties for allegedly using impeachment as a political tool.
In his Facebook post, Finance Minister Jaitley said that the Supreme Court judgment in Judge Loya death case exposes conspiracy to generate falsehood as propaganda in public and political space.
He added that the impeachment motion is a revenge petition after the falsehood of the Congress party established in judge Loya death case.
Referring to the judgement, Jaitley said never ever so blatantly in the past have national political parties, a few retired judges and some senior lawyers “so closely identified themselves with the generation of falsehood that they almost come out as conspirators”.
He also said that “What has happened today is a price the Indian judiciary has to pay for misadventures of many. There is no better time for judicial statesmanship and political foresight.”
BJP Leader Meenakshi Lekhi on Friday said that when Congress was in power, they leveled baseless charges against BJP leaders and tried to corner them in false cases.
