Coronavirus: Number of Covid-19 affected rising in India, one PayTm staff tested positive. Tripura bolster surveillance, no one yet affected, total 15k screened
New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) : The number of coronavirus affected in India has jumped to 29, on Wednesday with one PayTm employee tested positive.
The first coronavirus case in Delhi was detected on Monday. Six suspected cases were also detected in Agra, after these persons came in contact with the person from Delhi found to be infected.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said on Wednesday that India is well prepared to prevent the spread of Covid-19. It assured that all land ports under it are fully equipped with medical teams to screen all incoming passengers from neighbouring countries.
It further added that full medical check-up points are being set up at international checkpoints at Petrapole and Agartala. Training at NDRF headquarters is being organised at Attari, Dera Baba Nanak, Petrapole and Agartala ICPs.
Meanwhile, the ITBP has said that all 24 people – 21 Italian and 3 Indians – brought on Tuesday to the ITBP Quarantine facility in Chhawla camp left this evening. It, however, added that positives will be treated at designated hospital and others to be kept at preventive isolation at different locations.
Covid-19: Tripura bolster surveillance
Enewstime Desk adds: No one is yet to be found affected coronavirus in Tripura, State Health department sources said. As the Covid-19 threat builds up, Tripura Government strengthened surveillance at the state’s entry points and added another area for infrared screening programme.
The State Health and Family Welfare Department set up screening points at the entry points of the State – such as Akhaura ICP, Airport and other such spots. Akhaura ICP at Agartala is the gateway to Bangladesh through which several Bangla people enter into Agartala daily. Since Coronavirus scare broke out, Government put up screening facilities there. Screening center was also opened in Agartala through which large of people enter into the State along with other entry points. As the threat perception increases, Health Department included another area – Nishchintapur – under surveillance.
Infrared screening programme
Director of Health and Family Welfare department Radha Debbarma said, “So far 15,000 people have been screened in different entry points and nothing serious has been reported as of now. Screening in existing points has been bolstered and ambit of screening expanded recently to include Nishchintapur ”.
She also informed that a workshop would be also organized to sensitize people on the issue.
