50th Statehood Day: Tomorrow is a special day for the people of Tripura, says Amit Shah

Tomorrow is a special day for the people of Tripura, as the state will mark its 50th Statehood Day, tweeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the eve of the Day on Thursday.

 

Tripura is set to celebrate the 50 years of Statehood through a colourful programme on Friday albeit in a subdued manner owing Covid uptick.

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the people of Tripura as part of the Statehood Day programme through a video conference in presence of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and other dignitaries. The state-level programme will be held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.

 

In the programme, the state government will honour eminent personalities with the Citizen and Statehood day awards. There are total five citizen awards and ten Statehood Day awards.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will preside over the programme while Union Minister of State for Communications- Devusinh Chauhan will join the programme through video conference as the special guest.

 

Besides, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment- Pratima Bhowmik, Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly- Ratan Chakraborty, members of Tripura cabinet- Ratanlal Nath, Pranajit Singha Roy, Manoj Kanti Deb, Mevar Kumar Jamatia, Santana Chakma, Ram Prasad Paul, Bhagaban Das, Sushanta Chowdhury and Chief Secretary Kumar Alok will also attend the programme.

 

Meanwhile, on the eve of the Statehood Day, several important locations and buildings including Tripura Assembly and Secretariat picked up a new look with colourful illuminations.

 

The Governor, Chief Minister and the Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly greeted the people on the occasion of Statehood Day.

 

Tripura along with Manipur and Meghalaya became full-fledged states on January 21, 1972.
