Agartala-Kolkata via Bangladesh Rail Line will be completed this year, Rail Minister tells Pratima

The works of the Agartala-Kolkata via Bangladesh Rail Line will be completed this year, Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured Union Minister of State of Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik in New Delhi on Friday (March 17).

 

Bhowmik met with the Union Rail Minister in New Delhi today and during the meeting, she raised several issues pertaining to rail projects in Tripura.   

 

Pratima Bhowmik requested the Rail Minister for speedy completion of Agartala-Kolkata Via Bangladesh Rail Line Extension. About the reply of the Rail Minister, Bhowmik tweeted, “Union Railway Minister has assured that this work will be completed within this year and it will be opened for public”.

 

Referring to demands of the people of Tripura, Pratima Bhowmik also urged Ashwini Vaishnaw for halts at different Stations for different trains and construction of foot bridges. She also placed a demand for providing Vendor License to hawkers who sell different items in the trains.

 

“People of Pecharthal and Kanchanpur have been demanding for a long time that the Silchar-Agartala passenger train should have a halt at Pecharthal”,  She raised this matter with the Railway Minister and The Minister agreed to it, Bhowmik tweeted.

 

She further said, “Railway passengers have been demanding for a long time that the Agartala-Silchar passenger train halts at Jogendranagar. The Railway Ministerhas agreed to it, it will be started soon”.

 

On the construction of footbridges, Bhowmik requested Ashwini to construct a foot-bridge in Mekhlipara tea garden area and over-bridge in Mekhlipara village panchayat area under Khayerpur assembly in West Tripura.

 

She also urged the Rail Minister for construction of a foot-over-bridge at Jogendranagar railway station under Pratapgarh assembly constituency.

 

Besides, for hawkers, she said, “All the hawker brothers who are in the state trains have told me several times that they should be given a specific vendor-license which would facilitate their works”. Bhowmik said the Rail Minister will look into the matter if an application is made to the Union Railway Minister.
