All rounder Bikram shines as Tripura beat Puducherry by 25 runs

With Bikram Debnath's all-round performance, Tripura defeated Puducherry. The State Cricket team went into field as a favorite following their victory against mighty Mumbai. It was Tripura’s 4th victory in the tournament.

Tripura ended its campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Cricket with a win against Puducherry by 25 runs on Tuesday. In the match held at the Amber Stadium in Bangalore, Puducherry managed to score 135 runs in response to Tripura's 160 runs.

Bikram Debnath of Tripura has been selected as the man of the match for scoring 75 runs and taking 3 wickets. Tripura finished the season with 16 points after winning 4 of their 7 matches.

On Tuesday, the Tripura team management played several players from the reserve bench in the first eleven to assess them. With the win on this day, the team led by Rajat Dey boosted their morale ahead of the Ranji season.

In the Tournament, Tripura captain Hriddhiman Saha looked like a shadow of his past. As he could score only 34 runs in one match, but failed in the other 6 matches.

In today’s match, having the opportunity to bat first in the morning, Tripura team was under pressure from the very beginning due to the ultimate failure of the top-order batsmen. If all-rounder Bikram Debnath had not built a strong resistance in the middle order, Tripura's score might not have crossed the 100-run mark.

Tripura scored 160 runs after losing all wickets in 47.1 overs. Bikram Debnath remained unbeaten on 75 runs off 100 balls with the help of 6 boundaries.

Besides, Arjun Debnath scored 21 runs off 47 balls with the help of 1 boundary and 1 over boundary. Manish Mansingh scored 12 runs off 14 balls with the help of 2 boundaries, and Sudip Chatterjee scored 11 runs off 23 balls with the help of 1 boundary.

For Puducherry, Gaurav Yadav took 3 wickets for 23 runs, Niteen Ponnappa took 2 wickets for 15 runs, and Fabid Ahmed took 2 wickets for 35 runs.

In reply, Puducherry was bundled out for 135 runs in a sweeping attack by Tripura bowlers. For the team, opener Akash Kargave scored 54 runs off 77 balls with the help of 6 boundaries and 2 over boundaries, and Akash scored 33 runs off 48 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and 2 over boundaries.

For Tripura, Manishankar Mura Sing  took 3 wickets for 23 runs, Bikram Debnath took 3 wickets for 26 runs, and Abhijit Sarkar took 2 wickets for 26 runs.
