Assembly Budget Session: Tripura CM says Commission formed to probe 10323 mess, report soon

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today informed the house that a Commission was already formed to find out as to who had played with the future of the 10,323 teachers.

“I believe, the report of the Commission will soon be submitted based on which the state government would take action”, Deb told the House.

Referring to the attack on his official residence during a protest staged by the 10323 former teachers recently, the Chief Minister informed the House that the persons who were involved in such activities were captured in CCTV footage.

The Chief Minister also hinted that a section was playing politics with the teachers and instigating them for such protest in such violent way. Deb said, “We are all aware as to how the 10323 teachers have lost their jobs. The state government has full sympathy towards the 10,323 teachers. But we have seen as to how the sacked teachers have vandalized police vehicles, pelted stones and brickbats—creating violence in the name of protest. Such violence that too by the teachers is not welcomed in any sense.”

“Despite the fact that they have been protesting without any permission for the first 51 days, the government has not interfered in their protests. It is then when the teachers started delivering provocative speeches from their spot of protest; the police intervened sensing an imminent trouble,” he said.

Tripura-Assembly-Budget-session-10323“I have personally spoken to the leaders of the 10,323 teachers and tried to make them understand that the state government is sympathetic towards them. Our council of ministers has passed a resolution and subsequently the government moved the Supreme Court once again seeking certain relaxation to absorb them in various other posts. The Supreme Court clearly stated that, no special privileges can be offered to the sacked teachers except age relaxation. And, this is how, the state government is trying to accommodate them in alternative posts”, said Deb.

He also urged to all including the opposition to guide the terminated teachers to follow the process under legal framework instead of playing politics with them.

“No one should play politics with the 10,323 teachers. If we all think an alternative way for the teachers instead of playing politics, it will be helpful for them,” Deb said. He was speaking in response to the reference motion jointly moved by MLA Mabashwar Ali and MLA Sudhan Das regarding the alleged inhuman treatment meted out to the 10,323 teachers while they were leading sit-in demonstration.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday informed the state assembly that as many as 8,626 teachers among the 10,323 sacked teachers had already applied for the newly-created posts with age relaxation.

“The total figure of retrenched teachers now stands at 9,100 and 8,626 of them have already filled applications for the newly created Group C, Group D posts. So around 500 of the teachers have not applied for the posts they may have other sources of income”, Nath told the assembly in response to the same reference motion jointly moved by MLA Mabashwar Ali and MLA Sudhan Das.

Nath also referred to the Supreme Court order and the affidavit filed by the government and told the House that all possible steps were being taken by the government on humanitarian ground for the sake of the sacked teachers. Meanwhile, MLA Sudip Roy Barman also participated in the discussions and held the earlier Left government responsible for the whole mess.
