Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura strongly reacted and condemned the attack on National president of BJP ST Morcha and MP Samir Oraon and other Morcha leaders at Barmura on November 12 evening.
Tripura Police detained six persons in connection with the attack in which vehicles of Oraon and others were vandalized. Several persons were injured in the attack. Security personnel had to resort to blank firing to make way for the vehicles.

Reacting sharply, the Deputy Chief Minister not just condemned the attack – but also slammed the hooligans in strong words.
Dev Varma said, “I strongly condemn the attack on our BJP Janajati Morcha National President and MP Sh @SameerOraon16 ji by hooligans of a political party who were returning from a public meeting held in Agartala. Those who speak of fundamental rights must also respect fundamental rights of others. Thansa (unity) cannot be achieved by Danda ( hooliganism). Constitutional solution can only be achieved through constitutional means not by political goondaism like this”.
On November 12, Tipra Motha held a rally in support of ‘constitutional rights of indigenous people’ of Tripura.
According to ST Morcha National president Samir Oraon, Tipra Motha activists launched the attacks on him and other State level ST leaders on the evening of November 12.
Tripura Pradesh BJP also flayed the Tipra Motha and the Lal Motha (section of the CPM/GMP supporters who are currently supporting Tipra Motha) for the attack.
Addressing a press meeting in Agartala on November 13, Tribal Welfare Minister alleged Tipra Motha or Lal Motha is hatching a ploy to disrupt peace and tranquility in the State.
“They are conspiring and trying to create chaos – it was evident when goons backed by them attacked Janajati Morcha activists during deputation submission programmes alleging corruption in TTAADC. As BJP is working for peace and development, they are trying to derail the growth process by creating tension and panic”, Jamatia said.
Party’s spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty was also present in the press meet.
