Chabimura Utsav and Chakrama Hangrai 2024: A celebration of culture and tourism

The scenic Chabimura in Tripura, famous for its rock carvings dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, is hosting a grand cultural and tourism fair from Sunday. 

The Chabimura Utsav and Chakrama Hangrai 2024 is a joint initiative of the Department of Information and Culture, the Amarpur subdivisional administration and the Jamatia Hada, a socio-cultural organization of the Jamatia tribe of Tripura.

The fair was inaugurated by MP Rebati Mohan Tripura, who represents the East Tripura constituency in the Lok Sabha. He was accompanied by MLA Ranjit Das, Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Chairman Bikas Saha, State Tourism Department Managing Director Aniruddha Roy, Amarpur Block Samiti Chairman Manty Debnath Rudrapal and other dignitaries.

In his inaugural speech, MP Rebati Mohan Tripura praised the efforts of the ruling government in developing Chabimura and other tourist spots of the state. 

He said that the government had implemented various schemes and projects to enhance the tourism potential of the state, which had also boosted the state's economy and created job opportunities for many people.

The MP said that Chabimura, which is a natural heritage site with exquisite rock sculptures depicting Hindu gods and goddesses, had become a popular destination for tourists from across the country and abroad. 

He said that the government had improved the infrastructure and facilities in the area, such as roads, bridges, lighting, sanitation, etc.

The MP expressed his hope that the fair would attract more tourists to Chabimura and showcase the rich culture and traditions of the Jamatia tribe and other communities of the state. He also urged the people to participate in the fair and enjoy the various cultural programs and exhibitions.

The fair features 17 exhibition stalls of different departments of the state government, such as Tourism, Health, Fisheries, etc. The stalls display information and products related to the respective departments. 

The fair also includes cultural programs, such as folk dances, songs, dramas, etc., performed by the Jamatia Hadar and other local artists. The fair will continue till January 20, 2024.
