Covid 2.0 in Tripura: 11 more dead, 466 fresh cases

The second wave of COVID19 has now turned alarming. Tripura has recorded a sharp rise in the COVID19 positive cases with 11 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to an official report. The figure is so far highest in the state during COVID 2.0.

 

According to sources in the administration, preparations are going on for announcing containment zones in some Agartala Municipal Corporation areas where the rate of positive cases is high. However, the final decision in this regard is yet to come.

 

As the situation continues to worsen every day, there is a strong demand among the city dwellers for imposing immediate lockdown to break the transmission chain. Many of the people are apprehending that community level transmission had already started in some pockets.

 

The latest media bulletin from the Health department said as many as 6288 samples had been tested in this period—5207 in RAT and 1081 in RTPCR. Among them, 466 new positive cases have been detected in the state.

 

Now, the figure of active cases in Tripura stands 2917 while 137 patients have recovered. The death tally reached 419 while the recovery rate came down to 91.24 percent from 92 percent in the past 24 hours.
