Tripura health department has set a target to achieve cent percent vaccination of people of age above 60 years. As the Covid19 cases in the country is surging, the State Government is keeping watchful eyes on the prevailing situation in Tripura where so such surge in Covid case has been noticed so far. Testing in Airport has been harnessed to screen out infected passengers.
Sources said, the department has decided to cover 100 percent population belonging to the age group above 60 in order to provide a protective shield to the most vulnerable age-group in respect to Covid 19, highly placed sources in the state health department said.
A detailed plan has been laid down in order to streamline the vaccination process as in the initial stage, the department faced serious problems in mobilizing adequate beneficiaries for the vaccines. Now, the first priority is to vaccinate the people belonged to the above sixty years of age and the next most high risk group 45 to 59 years with comorbid conditions.
Sharing details of the special drive, he said, as per the finalized details there are one lakh aged people over the age group of sixty in the West Tripura district. In last week, about 30 thousand of them received vaccine doses and the process is under progress to cover the left over population. In Agartala AMC areas, 60 to 65 percent of the total one lakh population live, he added.
Speaking about the next age group, he said, the picture is not clear about the age group of 45 to 59 as in this case comorbid condition is an additional criterion. So, it is being managed as per report and vaccinate basis, he added.
Sources also said, the special vaccination drive has been designed to do targeted vaccination with less wastage. Meanwhile, the government of India has already allowed vaccination for all who are above the age of 45 years.
