Covid Vax drive for teens starts in Tripura
Along with the whole nation, Covid Vax drive for teens of 15-18 age groups has started in Tripura on Monday.
The government has kept both online and on-site booking facilities available for the ongoing vaccination drive.
The vax drive was formally launched in the West District from Anganwadi Training Centre under Narsingarh PHC. Among others, CMO of West Dr Debashish Das was present there. Dr Das said, the vaccination drive is undergoing in 187 schools whereas a target has been set to complete vaccination in all the schools under West District. Head of the institution and other teachers of the school will supervise the entire exercise while mobile teams will be deployed to take care of any issues, Dr Das said.
Meanwhile, according to government press release, a total of 1119 students of 14 schools under Bishalgarh Sub-division received the vax jab on Monday.
The Union Health Ministry has said that all those whose birth year is 2004 or before, will be eligible for all vaccines including COVISHIELD. Those in the age group of 15 to 17 years, born between 2005 and 2007 will be eligible only for Covaxin.
A group of students from Hindi Higher Secondary School in Agartala has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Covid vaccination for 15 to 18 age groups.
"Earlier the people in 18+ age groups received vaccines against the coronavirus. But, now the 15+ people are also getting the dose; now we are really feeling safe. The credit goes to our Prime Minister," a student said.
The students also said they are expecting that vaccination for the below 15 age group would commence very soon.
According to guidelines, the children in 15-18 age groups are being given only Covaxin doses. The target population for this age group is 2.13 lakh.
