G20 Science meet to begin in Agartala on Apr 3; Delegates to visit Neermahal on Apr 4

A two-day science meeting with the delegations from the G20 countries will commence at the conference hall of the International Trade Fair ground in Hapania, Agartala on April 3 next. The delegates will visit Neermahal on April 4 next.

 

Neermahal-Rudrasagar-TripuraPreparations are going on in full swing to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. To ensure the safety and security of participating members, a workshop and mock exercises were conducted at the venue. With the initiative of the National Disaster Management Authority the workshop and the mock drills were held focusing on Incidence response systems, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear disaster issues.

 

Officials of West Tripura district and Sepahijala district were present in the workshop and mock drills.

 

In today’s events, State Project Officer of Tripura Disaster Management Authority Dr Sarat Kumar Das discussed and reviewed several aspects relating to the concerned issues. Besides, INSP of NDRF’s Gakulnagar 1st Battalion Ajit Kumar and DSP Biplab Kumar Deb also spoke on various issues.

 

Later mock drills were conducted on combating attacks with biological bombs.

Sources said, the G20 delegates participating in the Science meeting will visit Neermahal on April 4 next. A high-level preparatory meeting was held at the conference hall of the Melaghar Municipal Council today. State in charge Chairman of the G20 summit, Abhishek Chanda chaired the meeting in which MLA Kishore Barman elected members of Melaghar Municipal Council, officials of Sepahijala district and sub-divisional offices were also present. Later, Barman and others went to the Neermahal to inspect the preparedness.

Speaking to the media, Barman said G20 delegates will be visiting Neermahal on April 4 and today’s meeting focused on the present condition of Neermahal and arrangements for the visits of the G20 delegates.

 

A crucial meeting will be held on Thursday which will be chaired by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, source said.
