Tripura: Agartala gearing up to host G-20 Science Summit, says City Mayor

The capital city is gearing up to host a two-day G-20 Science Summit on April 3 at the Hapania International fair Ground. Beautification initiatives have been taken up by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).


Addressing a press conference on Monday (March 27), AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder informed the media that as part of beautification drives, walls in the city will be painted highlighting the culture and customs of the State.


“The works under the beautification drive are underway along the road from the MBB Airport to Hapania International Fair Ground. The main focus of the beautification initiative is to showcase the rich traditions and customs of the State. Moreover, the paintings will also depict tourist spots in the State”, Majumder said.


Students of the Government Art College are entrusted with making city walls colourful and attractive. He exuded confidence that the beautification drive would aptly represent the cultural heritage of the State.

Majumder was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta and AMC Commissioner Shailesh Yadav in the press conference today


In the two-day-long G-20 Science meet, national and international participants from the G-20 countries across six continents will take part. The delegates are also expected to visit the 41st Book Fair which is underway at the same venue.

The G-20 delegates are scheduled to visit Neermahal at Melaghar on April 4 next.  Preparations are also going on in full swing at Neermahal to make the visit of the delegates smooth.


To host the delegates, AMC is leaving no stone unturned. Already, colourful illumination of both sides of roads in the city has been almost completed. Along with beautification, cleanliness has also been emphasized.
