Ghostly Yet Gripping: Zombie Artist Stuns Puja Revelers with Bizarre Dance in Agartala

A zombie-like performer captivated the attention of Puja revelers at Agartala Sanghati Club with his eerie appearance and ghostly movements. Emerging from the Puja pandal during the 'Mayer Gamon' carnival in Agartala on Monday, the ‘zombie’ stole the show with his bizarre yet mesmerizing display.

Zombie-Tripura-Durga-PujaWith a frail, haunting frame and pale complexion, the entertainer’s face was smeared with grayish makeup, giving him the chilling appearance of someone who had just risen from the grave. Dark circles framed his eyes, creating the impression of a hollow, soulless stare. His skeletal hands, with long, gnarled fingers, curled unnaturally as he moved, adding to his ghostly presence. Despite his bony chest and gaunt figure, the performer moved with incredible energy—swirling, swinging, and running with an uncanny rhythm that enthralled the audience.

The audience at the Mayer Gamon event, including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, enjoyed the performance of the ‘zombie man.’ Scary, yet beloved by the crowd. Skeletal, yet full of vitality.

"Omg! He’s a masterpiece!" exclaimed a young woman who had been startled by the entertainer’s whirlwind-like appearance during Mayer Gamon carnival. .

"I must congratulate the club for presenting such talent. We loved his electrifying performance."

Though he looked like a creature from beyond the grave, the ‘zombie’ was actually professional artist Bappa Mali from Nadia, West Bengal.

Far from his eerie persona, Bappa is a family man who enjoys transforming into various characters through makeup.

In a conversation with the Editor of the enewstime.in he said, “Look, my body looks very frail. It’s bony and almost skeleton like. You can count my chest bones. My hands, skeletal too, appear long. People used to make fun of my frail body when I was a child. Initially that hurt me. However, I decided to turn my weakness into my strength and I started practicing to become a public entertainer I perfected these ghostly movements to create something unique”.

Sharing his experience in Agartala, Bappa was overwhelmed at the applause he received from the people here.  He also said they came to Agartala during the Ganesh Puja and stayed up till Durga Puja – now, along with others will return home.

“I am going back to my native place with loads of love”, he signed off with one final burst of his signature bizarre movements.
