NEC Meet in Agartala: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaching State in Dec 20, Tripura CM reviews preparations

The 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) is set to be held in Tripura for the first time on December 21. Ahead of the meeting, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha inspected several locations in Agartala on Tuesday. 

To review the preparations, he visited the Ujjayanta Palace and the Pragya Bhavan, providing necessary instructions to the attending administrative officials.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Saha said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would arrive in Tripura on December 20 to attend the NEC meeting. 

He said, “The 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council will be held in Tripura. A special event is being planned at Ujjayanta Palace for this occasion. 

NEC Meet Amit Shah TripuraDr Saha added, "We have reviewed all arrangements along with the concerned officials. The session’s venue and related facilities have also been assessed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is also the NEC Chairman, will arrive on December 20, and the session will take place on December 21.”

The Chief Minister also noted that during this time, a meeting of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC) would also be held. He remarked that this is a significant development for the state.

Apart from Amit Shah, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia, governors, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, chief secretaries, and other senior officials from the northeastern states will attend the session. 

Discussions will focus on regional development and various projects, making this a proud moment for Tripura.

Regarding his recent meeting with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, and his son Anant Ambani, the Chief Minister said, “During my visit to Maharashtra to attend a swearing-in ceremony, I invited Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani to visit Tripura". 

He said,  "We had an extensive discussion, and they expressed a keen interest in visiting the state. A team from the Reliance Group will soon visit Tripura. Our discussion was very positive, and I am optimistic about their visit.”

During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other senior officials from various departments.
