OISHO BANI SOCIETY launches self-reliance project, 50 rural families benefitted

Outbreak of Covid19 has rendered under-privileged people of the State in dire situation. Considering the plight of rural people, Oisho Bani Society conducted many relief item distribution programmes across the State.

However, as the Covid19 threat is looming large, the Society has recently started a pilot project aiming to generate sustainable income. Initially, 50 families were identified and the Society helped to earn livelihood through animal husbandry.

Notably, Oisho Bani Society is a charitable organization which is actively involved in carrying out relief work during this Covid 19 pandemic. It has reached out to more than 3000 families with relief materials like dry ration cum cooked food, masks and sanitizers in two phases.

Talking about the pilot project, Fr Jeevan Kennady, Director of Oisho Bani Society said, “As a pilot initiative it has reached out to 50 poor families including 27 women led families with Rs.6000 each. The beneficiaries will undertake animal husbandry related income generation activities”.

Fr Jeevan further said, this pilot initiative is not about giving money and hoping the beneficiaries would achieve the goal. For attaining sustainability, he said, “These beneficiaries will be continuously monitored by the volunteers of OISHO BANI SOCIETY. The beneficiaries are sensitized and motivated to make this activity a permanent source of income for their livelihood by ensuring a replacement of animal once they sell the present one. Hence OISHO BANI SOCIETY will ensure sustainability of income generating activity.”
