One youth dead, more than 10 injured in two separate road accidents in Tripura

An auto-rickshaw met with an accident near Shanti Niketan Para in Jolaibari under the South Tripura District on Wednesday. One person died on the spot and six other passengers were seriously injured. The injured and the deceased were taken to Jolaibari Social Health Center, where the on-duty doctor referred the injured persons to Shanti Bazar District Hospital, considering their condition critical.

The three-wheeler auto was carrying passengers from Jolaibari to Muhuripur. Upon reaching near Shanti Niketan Para, it collided with a dog, causing the auto-rickshaw to lose control and meet with an accident. The deceased in today's accident is Shankar Dutta (27), a resident of Shyamsundar Para, Jolaibari. The other six injured are Bijay Majumdar (41), a resident of Shyamsundar Para; Ashish Sarkar (43), a resident of Shanti Niketan Para; Keshab Debnath (37), a resident of Mahamuni Tila; Sambhu Muhuri (39), a resident of Sagardepa; Samir Biswas (42), a resident of Shyamsundar Para; and Shankar Majumdar (45), a resident of Sanchiram Bari.

Accident-TripuraThe body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem at Jolaibari Social Health Center and will be handed over to the family members. Meanwhile, the body of the dog that died in the accident has been sent for post-mortem at a local veterinary hospital.  

In a separate incident, a Commander jeep carrying at least 12 passengers from Killa Motor Stand, under Killa Police Station in the Gomati District, fell about 200 feet down a cliff today while traveling to Killa Maithulungbari near Poang Bari. Several passengers were injured in the accident.

Upon receiving the news, the police rushed to the scene and the fire department was also informed. Due to the poor condition of the road, the fire department's vehicle took a long time to reach the spot. Later, the injured were rescued and taken to Killa Primary Health Center. From there, eight people, including Padmarani Malsum (26), Debraj Bahadur Malsub (60), Nayan Lakshmi Malsum (45), Bagan Shani Malsum (30), Panch Rani Malsum (40), and Rachna Pati Malsum (40), were brought to Gomati District Hospital for advanced treatment.

Among them, Debraj Bahadur Malsum's condition was said to be critical according to hospital sources. The police are trying to recover the vehicle.
