PM Modi honored with Papua New Guinea's highest Civilian Award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with the prestigious Companion of the Order of Logohu by Papua New Guinea, the country's highest civilian award, in recognition of his efforts to foster unity among Pacific Island nations and his leadership in advancing the interests of the Global South.

The Prime Minister's Office took to Twitter to announce the news, stating, "Papua New Guinea has conferred the Companion of the Order of Logohu on PM Narendra Modi. It was presented to him by Papua New Guinea Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae."

A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, highlighted the significance of the honor, stating, "This award symbolizes the deep-rooted India-Papua New Guinea relationship. Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae of Papua New Guinea presented PM Modi with the country's highest civilian award, the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu (GCL)."

It is worth noting that only a handful of non-residents have ever received this prestigious award from Papua New Guinea.

This recognition closely follows PM Modi being conferred with Fiji's highest award as well.

In a previous tweet, the PMO announced, "PM Narendra Modi has been conferred with the highest honor of Fiji, the Companion of the Order of Fiji. It was presented to him by PM Sitiveni Rabuka."

After concluding his visit to Japan's Hiroshima, where he attended the G7 Summit, the Prime Minister arrived in Papua New Guinea for the second leg of his visit. Following his engagements in Papua New Guinea, Modi is set to travel to Sydney at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The conferral of these prestigious awards further solidifies the Prime Minister's diplomatic engagements in the Pacific region, highlighting the growing global recognition of his efforts toward fostering international cooperation and partnerships.(Edited)
