PM Modi inaugurates magnificent New Parliament building in grand ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new Parliament building in a prestigious ceremony on Sunday, following the installation of the historic 'Sengol' near the Lok Sabha Speaker's chair.

Prime Minister Modi made his way to the Parliament premises, where he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by presenting floral tributes. Subsequently, he joined Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in engaging in a puja, a sacred ritual, to inaugurate the new building.

The momentous occasion was marked by a traditional puja and havan, as well as the presence of esteemed Adheenams' seers.

Accompanied by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Prime Minister received the symbolic 'Sengol' and positioned it inside the new Parliament building near the Lok Sabha Speaker's chair.

Subsequently, PM Modi and Speaker Birla jointly revealed the commemorative plaque, signifying the inauguration of the new Parliament structure.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi took the opportunity to honor and acknowledge the dedicated workers who contributed to the construction and development of the new Parliament building.

As a gesture of appreciation, he presented shawls and momentos to these individuals, recognizing their invaluable contributions.

Following the inauguration, PM Modi, Speaker Birla, and several Cabinet ministers participated in a 'Sarva-dharma' (all-religious) prayer ceremony held within the newly inaugurated Parliament building.

The event aimed to foster unity and inclusivity by encompassing representatives from various religious backgrounds.

The ceremony commenced with an early morning havan, setting a spiritual and harmonious tone for the occasion.

Notable dignitaries, including representatives from 25 political parties, chief ministers, and ministers, graced the event with their presence. Prominent figures such as Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, and Jitendra Singh, along with BJP President J.P. Nadda, were among the attendees.

However, the inaugural ceremony faced partial opposition, as twenty political parties, including the Congress, decided to boycott the event. (Edited)
