Ranji: Tripura and Baroda settle for draw, host team earns 3 points due to first innings lead

The Tripura-Baroda Ranji Trophy match ended in a predictable draw, but Tripura emerged with 3 points, thanks to their first-innings lead. On the final day, Saturday, Tripura's players made a spirited effort to chase down the target, yet a determined fightback led by Krunal Pandya and his team thwarted their ambitions. Despite the likelihood of a draw, there was a hope that Tripura’s bowlers might turn the game in their favor, but Baroda held firm.

Chasing a target of 247, Baroda ended the game at 241 for 4. Starting day four at 29 without loss, Baroda faced an early setback with J.K. Singh departing for 20 when the score reached 64. Shashwat Rawat then joined Shiblik Sharma, and the two built a stable partnership, adding 33 runs in 61 balls before Shiblik was dismissed for 52 (9 fours) by Bikram Debnath after a 100-ball stay.

Shashwat continued, finding support from captain Krunal Pandya. After a lackluster first innings, Krunal made amends with a crucial half-century. Together, they added 93 runs in 184 balls, with Krunal scoring 57 (6 fours, 4 sixes) off 95 balls and Shashwat contributing 51 (8 fours) off 142 balls. Baroda closed at 299 for 4 in 99 overs, with Atit. Seth (19, 2 fours) and Vishnu Solanki (24, 4 fours) remain unbeaten.

For Tripura, Abhijit Sarkar, Sandeep Sarkar, Bikram Debnath, and Parvez Sultan each took a wicket.

With 12 points from four matches, Tripura will face Jammu and Kashmir from November 13 to 16. This performance has undoubtedly boosted Manishankar Muduhasi and his team's confidence.
