South Tripura District: Amidst blame game, Tipra Motha holds protest condemning Friday's attack

Amidst a blame-game between the ruling BJP and Tipra Motha leaders, the latter held a protest rally at the Karlia Bazar area under South Tripura District on Saturday (Dec 24) condemning the attack on its supporters at Hrishyamukh block under the same district.

While Tipra Motha is blaming the BJP fr the attack and said at three Tipra Motha supporters were injured, BJP denied this and alleged at least five BJP supporters were wounded in the attack unleashed by Tipra Motha on Friday.

The Tipra Motha party leaders alleged the workers of the ruling party attacked the Tipra Motha workers on their way to home after attending a party programme and three party supporters were injured in the attack. The injured persons were taken to the Belonia sub-divisional Hospital and one of them was, later, referred to the GB Hospital, Motha leaders said and added, soon after the incident an FIR was lodged.

Refuting the allegation, ruling BJP leaders alleged Raju Tripura and five other supporters of the Tipra Motha left the party to join the BJP. These new entrants to BJP came under Tipra Motha’s attack in which five BJP workers were injured. They are undergoing treatment at Matai Primary Health Center and Udaipur Gomati District Hospital.

Meantime, condemning the attack, Tipra Motha activists held a protest rally in which MDC Debjit Tripura, TIPRA Motha party leader Harendra Tripura and others took part. The leaders and supporters demanded punitive actions against the BJP goons involved in the incident.

Even as the situation remained under control, so far, a simmering panic is obvious among the local people.
