The 35th Tripura Industrial and Commerce Fair drew a bustling crowd at the Hapania International Ground in Agartala, adding vibrancy to the weekend festivities.
People of all ages flocked to the venue, exploring the well decorated and illuminated stalls.
A wide range of products, from essential utilities to luxury items, were attractively displayed to capture the attention of visitors.
Beyond the commercial offerings, the fair also serves as a platform for skill development and the integration of advanced technologies to foster entrepreneurship as well as business ideas.
Like previous years, a Tech Pavilion has been set up at the Conference Hall of the FairGround, where students of different institutes and professionals are showcasing a diverse range of ideas and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.
A crucial awareness initiative on the crimes, especially Cyber crimes of the National Forensic Sciences University in the Tech Pavilion drew curious visitors who put up a lot of queries to remain safe from the growing danger of cyber crime. In case of any reporting related to cyber crime, one may visit www.cybercrime.gov.in.
Besides, innovative applications of drone technology, solar energy, and artificial intelligence are among the key highlights presented by various organizations, including TIT Agartala, NEILIT, ICFAI, and Arkaneer.
A unique stall by Seven Oceans at the Tech Pavilion demonstrates how artistic talent can lead to an entrepreneurial venture.
With the State Government’s emphasis on the SHGs and constant efforts to improve the GSDP, the State is witnessing an expansion of SHGs and entrepreneurial activities - and time has come to explore markets outside the State.
Tripura holds distinct advantages in multiple sectors, including pineapple, jackfruit, organic produce, bamboo, and rubber products.
Many SHGs, individuals, and organizations are working on these products, with a growing interest in expanding their reach beyond the state’s borders.
Entrepreneurs are increasingly considering online markets, but challenges such as effective packaging remain a hurdle.
As one SHG member at the recent Saras Mela said, “We plan to expand our production and increase our income, but packaging our products properly to minimize damage remains a significant challenge.”
The Tech Pavilion offers solutions to this issue, highlighting lucrative opportunities in the packaging sector.
The Kolkata center of the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has introduced a two-year full-time Diploma course in Packaging for Science students.
More details about the institute and its courses can be found at www.iip-in.com.
Moreover, the Institute also offers training for upskilling professionals already engaged in the packaging sector.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Dr. Nilay Kanti Pramanik, Assistant Professor and Deputy Director, and Dr. Madan M. Manipati, Assistant Director of the Institute, emphasized the growing demand for packaging specialists and service providers.
“With rapid industrial development across the country, there is a significant need for packaging professionals", Dr Madan said.
In view of this, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is addressing this demand by offering industry-oriented courses through the Indian Institute of Packaging for Science graduates.
Dr Manipati highlighted Tripura’s potential in exporting agro-produces and fruits.
Emphasizing the role of scientific packaging to maintain the quality of the product, he said the IIP may help and pave the way for the agri-growers.
Given the lack of proper packaging facilities in Tripura, a visit to the Tech Pavilion could open new opportunities for the state’s youth, offering them pathways into the booming packaging industry - whether as job seekers or as job creators, Dr Manipati concluded. (First Published in Tripura Times)
